Aug 15 Welcome Institute, Gentry 142-44,8:30 – 5:00 (Thursday, Aug 14 has been cancelled)

  • Personal laptops/ tables encouraged. We’ll be using the Explain Everything app ($2.99) as part of our iPad training. If you prefer not to purchase it, we’ll have it available on our iPads, which you are welcome to use for this training session.
  • Please have an active LinkedIn account. We’ll be using the Groups on Friday– UConn Bilingual Ed
  • Please bring completed registration forms, if you haven’t already sent it. Please understand that registration just opened on Monday, Aug 11. Registration forms will be delivered to the Registrar’s Office on Tuesday, Aug 19.
    • EDCI 5700 should be on your registration form. Math LEAD will cover the tuition charge for this course.
    • You are highly encouraged to register for EDCI 5740 as well. Math LEAD will not cover tuition charges for this course. If you are registering for EDCI 5740, you may include that course on the same form.

Welcome Institute – Friday, Aug 15

We’ve been able to fit all activities into one day, so the Welcome Institute will only be Friday, Aug 15, from 8:30 – 5:00, starting in Gentry 142-44. A full schedule of the day will be posted early next week.

  • While iPads and desktop computers will be available for use, please feel free to bring your iPad and/or laptop.
  • If you don’t already have one, please create a basic (free) LinkedIn account ( prior to Aug 15. Be sure to become part of the UConn Bilingual Ed group!


Time to register! As mentioned in your award letter you have been awarded funding for tuition ($2,034) for EDCI 5700*. You are responsible for all student and University fees (approximately $500/ semester, more information can be found here), as well as the tuition association with additional courses. Please complete and return the following form to Carissa Rutkauskas, 249 Glenbrook Rd, U 3033, Storrs, CT 06269 no later than Monday, Aug 18, 2014 to register. I will be available the morning of Friday, August 15 during our Welcome Institute to collect and assist with form completion. I will hand-deliver registration forms to the Registrar’s Office on Tuesday, Aug 19. Once they register you in the system, an e-mail will be generated to the account that you indicate on the registration form advising you of the payment options for your fees and tuition associated with any additional courses. Please note that you will have 36 hours in which to pay these fees before late charges start accruing (Thursday, Aug, 21).
